Synopsis

Eyesight is a precious gift from God and the people who lack this blessing truly know its value. Vision helps people in understanding and interacting with the surroundings. Even in this modern age, blind people still live a life of discomfort and misery. According to the survey of World Health Organization held in 2010, the population of visually impaired people throughout the world is 285 million. A large multitude of work has been done to assist the visually impaired. Here, we will develop a computer vision system to be implemented on MATLAB. This system will take a video input from a camera attached to the cap of a blind person. It will be able to detect and classify different obstacles like table, chair, staircases etc and will thus guide the person to follow an obstacle-free path.
