The main idea behind writing this book was that, the structure of management and planning governing in Tehran metropolitan area is not a decent model for leading and controlling physical and spatial changes and cause numerous challenges in the elements of spatial organization like communication network, residential areas and industrial factories. Tehran metropolitan area is presently facing numerous challenges like domination of central and marginal structure in residential system, huge parking lots, insufficient financial resources for development and completing urban infrastructure projects, reduction in domestic and foreign investments in manufacturing lines due to the lack of proper support for market-oriented business activities etc. Needless to say that in this contradictory and complicated atmosphere for Tehran metropolitan area facing various economic, social and physical problems on the one hand and competing with other metropolitan areas of the region to play a decent role in global level, reviewing and restructuring management structure and spatial planning in Tehran metropolitan area are of crucial importance.
