Synopsis

Fungal infections have nonetheless been increasing in incidence in the human population over the last 20 years. And in recent years the pharmaceutical industries has directed serious attention toward the discovery and development of antifungal agents. Because many infections are superficial, there are many topical preparations available in markets. Many antifungal agents are quite toxic, and when systemic therapy is required these agents must often be used under strict medical supervision. Hence Econazole Nitrate Topical Spray dosage form is a new dosage form formulated for the treatment of superficial fungal infections. Spray formulation can minimize pain and irritation experience during the application of conventional dosage forms. Econazole Nitrate is an active ingredient of the aerosol concentrate to be used for once-daily application because of its long retention in the superficial layers of the fungal infected skin. The book is aimed to formulate, optimize and evaluate Econazole Nitrate Topical Spray for obtaining effective therapeutic action in superficial fungal infection using penetration enhancers, co-solvent as solubilizer, LPG as propellant and volatile solvent system.

Ms. Monali M Kapadia has obtained her M.Pharm degree in pharmaceutics from Babaria Institute of Pharmacy, affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, India in 2012. She has worked in different pharmaceutical projects in the field of aerosols at Vimsons Aerosol Company, India. She is the author of several research articles.
