Synopsis

This book, Insect Adipokinetic Neuropeptides,presents the results of bioassays and structure elucidation of adipokinetic neuropeptides from representatives of three insect orders, Orthoptera, Hemiptera and Coleoptera. Confirming the activity of the whole extract and the HPLC fractions using bioassays, similarity of the native peptide with the synthetic AKHs were tested by comparing the profiles on HPLC. The primary structures were studied using MALDI-TOF-MS/MS. The results of the investigation may be helpful in tracing the phylogeny of the insect orders and also for developing new generation insecticides.

Biographie de l'auteur

Dr. A. P. AJAYKUMAR. has received his MSc,MPhil and PhD in Zoology and MA (Sociology)and MEd from University of Calicut. He is a recipient of Junior Research Fellowship of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-JRF) New Delhi in Life Sciences and UGC-NET in Education. He also presented papers in national and international conferences.
