Synopsis

The study aimed at investigating the factors influencing Information Communications Technology (ICT) utilization in Uganda District Local Governments using Mityana District as a case. The study followed a cross sectional design using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Quantitative data was collected using self administered questionnaires and qualitative data was collected using interview guide, review of documents and general observations of the status of district ICT operations. Data was analyzed using: descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation and multiple regression analysis to establish causal influence of factors on ICT utilization. The major finding of this study was that organizational support systems, ICT infrastructure and users’ perceptions had a strong relationship with ICT utilization. Multiple regression analysis revealed that only user perceptions and organizational support had a significant influence on ICT utilization. Recommendations made are that government should formulate and disseminate policies to District local governments to regulate ICT digital divides, address strategies to change users’ negative perceptions and offer support.

Biographie de l'auteur

Stephen is a Management Consultant at SITS COMPUTER CENTRE LTD and a visiting Lecturer at Uganda Christian University. He has worked as a LG Districts' ICT consultant & ICT Educator for ten years . He has played a leading role in various project implementations. He offers strategic information pertaining projects and scholarly writing.
