During the 1970s and 1980s, Multiculturalism became a world trend and surrounded almost all Western states. Many of these states declared official multiculturalism and cherished their societies’ multicultural character by the help of government policies. These multicultural policies targeted indigenous groups in US, Canada and Australia; while in Europe their addressees have become immigrants. In line with this, as an immigrant integration model, multiculturalism kept academics busy in the last decade. To make a better analysis, this study begins with a thorough examination of multiculturalism and it tries to understand whether it can be a feasible model for immigrant integration in Europe.

Deniz Genc is a PhD Candidate in Marmara University. She holds BA and MSc Degrees in Political Science from the same university as well as an MA Degree in European Politics from the Lund University. Deniz's work focuses on international migration and immigration. Currently, she is working on irregular migration movements that transit Turkey.
