Synopsis

Rasashastra is a branch of Ayurveda which deals with the description of metals, minerals, animal products, poisonous herbs, most precious things like gold, gems etc & their therapeutic usage. Navasadara is one of the rasadravya (Mineral) included in Sadharana rasa group of drugs whose Satva (extract) has its indications in many diseases which are now known as infectious diseases. Hence to validate the fact scientifically, Navasadara satva was extracted and subjected to Antimicrobial study. The results were suggestive that Navasadara Satva is a potent Antimicrobial drug.

Author completed BAMS from Sri DGM Ayurveda Medical college Gadag, Karnataka and MD from KLE's Sri BMK Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya Belagavi, Karnataka with high academic credentials. Presently working as a research fellow in the department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya kalpana at National Institute of Ayurveda Jaipur, Rajasthan.
