Synopsis

As a major problem in daily life, violent crimes bring economical, psychological and social costs to every society. In criminological inquiry, one of the most asked questions is: What causes violent crime. Therefore, criminologists explore what leads people to crime in order to generate crime prevention strategies that will provide a sense of security to the members of the communities. Using a similar approach, Understanding Violent Crime and Social Structure examines the impact of social and structural factors on violent crimes.
