Synopsis
Ce livre est le fruit de nombreuses années heureuses d'enseignement à l'Université de Jazan, en Arabie Saoudite. Le but de « comprendre la sociolinguistique » est de fournir aux étudiants, aux nouveaux enseignants et à tous les chercheurs intéressés un compte rendu de ce qui est impliqué dans la linguistique en général et dans la sociolinguistique en particulier. La mise en page de ce livre permet aux étudiants en linguistique d'utiliser le matériel de différentes manières. Les enseignants de linguistique peuvent utiliser le livre pour des cours de sociolinguistique pour des cours de classe, des points de référence pour l'auto-évaluation ainsi que pour des exercices pratiques et des devoirs de sociolinguistique à domicile. « Comprendre la sociolinguistique », bien que traitant de sujets éminemment académiques, cherche à maintenir un style vivant et moderne et à être convivial.
