Ce livre est une tentative de résoudre le problème de la reconnaissance faciale humaine. La reconnaissance faciale est une méthode d'authentification biométrique qui est devenue de plus en plus pertinente ces dernières années à des fins de surveillance. La reconnaissance faciale est un domaine de recherche populaire où différentes approches sont étudiées dans la littérature. Dans ce livre, le problème de reconnaissance faciale est géré en appliquant l'analyse en composantes principales (PCA), diverses transformations orthogonales et différentes techniques de génération de livres de codes de quantification vectorielle (VQ). La méthode du visage Eigen essaie de trouver un espace dimensionnel inférieur pour la représentation des images du visage. Le principal inconvénient du PCA est l'évolutivité. Au fur et à mesure que l'ensemble de données change, toute la distribution de l'espace propre change également. Pour éviter cette difficulté, diverses transformations orthogonales telles que DCT, DST, WHT, Slant, Wavelet Transform et la transformation de Kekre nouvellement proposée sont appliquées sur la base de données. Le concept de compactage de l'énergie d'image dans les coefficients de basse fréquence est exploré ici. Le VQ est considéré comme une bonne méthode de compression de données. La clé de VQ est la bonne génération de livres de codes. Ici, la nouvelle technique de génération de livres de codes est introduite sous le nom de Fast Code Book Generation (KFCG) de Kekre.
