America is addicted to oil. The addictive behavioral consequences include drilling wherever we can for it, burning carbon dioxide, and forming alliances with petrodictators. The good and bad news is that oil is a finite resource. So the clock is ticking on a number of big questions. When will it run out? What will be next? The answer to this problem is electric cars. Biofuel-powered vehicles are always a generation behind, and hydrogen-powered vehicles are forever a generation away. Battery-electric cars, on the other hand, will indeed one day replace gas-powered cars. This transformation is happening, not as a revolution, but as an evolution.
