Synopsis

Image processing is a set of activities that perform several operations such as enhancement, segmentation, classification, and such other processes on an image, in order to extract useful information from it. Now-a-days the role of image processing is very vital in the fields of bio medical, geological, nano science, security related issues etc. Statistical methods have applications, in general, for analyzing quantitative, qualitative and diagrammatic information. Though the role of Statistical methods in digital image processing has been recognized by the research community, it is not yet exploited to the maximum extent. In this work applications of various statistical methods for studying images have been attempted.
