Synopsis

Ridge gourd(luffa acutangula(L.)Roxb.) is one of the abundant vegetables grown extensively through the world in all the seasons. The investigation was carried out with two objectives at experimental field department of Crop Improvement and Biotechnology, K.R.C. College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, during 2010-2012. 15 Lines and 3 testers with 2 commercial check in Ridge gourd. The analysis of variance indicated the significant amount of variation among the genotypes for yield and yield contributing traits. Among the 45 F1 Hybrids 5 hybrids were identified best heterosis cross combination for yield and its components.

Prakash, M. Completed M.Sc (Hort) in 2012 from U.H.S Bagalkot,(India) have wide scientific interest and researched in area of genetics and plant breeding aspects of vegetables, published several papers on heterosis breeding and seed production of Ridge gourd presently pursuing Ph.D(Hort) in U.H.S Bagalkot,(India).
