In this book the challenges facing Kenya’s education in planning for identification and nurturing of students’ talent is tackled as one of the many ways to address the unemployment menace and a solution to the many ills affecting society such as corruption, insecurity and poor governance. It also tackles interventions necessary for planners to achieve parity in access to education in ASAL and suggests innovative ways to achieve access and equity in education. However, Since independence, issues of quality and relevance in the provision of education in Kenya have been pertinent. The policy framework informing the government’s decision to focus on quality and relevance are discussed. In addition, issues of investment in education are discussed articulating the returns on investment and the challenges faced in access to education in relation to the overall taxation measures and the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
