Cette étude a évalué l'état des terrains dans les écoles de base de la métropole de Kumasi et son effet sur l'enseignement et l'apprentissage. L'étude était qualitative et quantitative dans l'approche. 100 écoles de base de la métropole de Kumasi ont été sélectionnées pour l'étude. Les données ont été recueillies auprès des chefs d'enseignants, des enseignants et des élèves. Les outils de collecte de données comprenaient des questionnaires structurés et un guide d'entrevue. L'étude a examiné les connaissances des répondants sur les avantages des écoles d'aménagement paysager, le concept d'apprentissage en plein air et la relation entre le paysage scolaire et le programme scolaire. Les résultats de l'étude ont révélé que les terrains dans les écoles de base de la métropole de Kumasi étaient généralement médiocres et que l'utilisation de plantes ornementales faisait tout simplement défaut dans la plupart des écoles. La recherche a clairement montré que la plupart des écoles de la zone d'étude, qui avaient de bons terrains paysagers ont obtenu de très bons agrégats dans le BECE, tandis que celles avec des paysages très pauvres ont obtenu de faibles performances comparatives. Les autorités scolaires sont conscientes des avantages fonctionnels de l'aménagement paysager, mais n'ont pas réussi à les intégrer dans l'environnement scolaire.
