Cette �tude a �valu� l'�tat des terrains dans les �coles de base de la m�tropole de Kumasi et son effet sur l'enseignement et l'apprentissage. L'�tude �tait qualitative et quantitative dans l'approche. 100 �coles de base de la m�tropole de Kumasi ont �t� s�lectionn�es pour l'�tude. Les donn�es ont �t� recueillies aupr�s des chefs d'enseignants, des enseignants et des �l�ves. Les outils de collecte de donn�es comprenaient des questionnaires structur�s et un guide d'entrevue. L'�tude a examin� les connaissances des r�pondants sur les avantages des �coles d'am�nagement paysager, le concept d'apprentissage en plein air et la relation entre le paysage scolaire et le programme scolaire. Les r�sultats de l'�tude ont r�v�l� que les terrains dans les �coles de base de la m�tropole de Kumasi �taient g�n�ralement m�diocres et que l'utilisation de plantes ornementales faisait tout simplement d�faut dans la plupart des �coles. La recherche a clairement montr� que la plupart des �coles de la zone d'�tude, qui avaient de bons terrains paysagers ont obtenu de tr�s bons agr�gats dans le BECE, tandis que celles avec des paysages tr�s pauvres ont obtenu de faibles performances comparatives. Les autorit�s scolaires sont conscientes des avantages fonctionnels de l'am�nagement paysager, mais n'ont pas r�ussi � les int�grer dans l'environnement scolaire.

Tools for data collection included structured questionnaires and interview guide. The study investigated the knowledge of respondents on; the benefits of landscaping schools, the concept of outdoor learning and the relationship between the schools landscape and the school curriculum. The findings of the study revealed that grounds in Basic Schools in the Kumasi Metropolis were generally poor and the use of ornamental plants was simply lacking in most schools. The research clearly showed that most schools within the study area, that had good landscaped grounds scored very good aggregates in the BECE, while those with very poor landscapes performed poorly comparatively.
