Le diabète sucré de type 2 (T2DM) est l'un des principaux problèmes médicaux du XXIe siècle, et jusqu'à présent il n'y a pas de cause précise et exacte de cette maladie, tant d'études génétiques ont été faites dans ce domaine. Certaines de ces études ont montré que les polymorphismes sur le chromosome dix et trois au sein du gène de l'adiponectine rs266729 et du facteur de transcription 7like 2 (TCF7L2) gène rs7903146 respectivement sont associés au diabète de type 2 (T2DM). de ces polymorphismes est SNP rs26672999. en adipon gène ectine et SNP rs7903146 dans le gène TCF7l2. Ces polymorphismes peuvent provoquer des variations dans l'IMC, le profil lipidique et la sensibilité à l'insuline. Cette étude a confirmé que le rs266729 du gène de l'adiponectine augmente considérablement le risque de T2DM bien qu'il ne soit pas pour rs7903146 du gène TCF7l2 et cela peut-être en raison de variations génétiques entre les populations.
