La présente étude a été réalisée dans l'État du Kordofan du Sud, en particulier à Abugubeiha pour identifier les espèces de mouches des fruits prévalant dans la région et pour déterminer leur aire de répartition ainsi que les niveaux d'infestation dus à leurs mouches des fruits. La surveillance sur le terrain des espèces de mouches des fruits téphritides utilisant Nulure comme attractif alimentaire dans la région d'Abugubeiha a révélé la présence de trois espèces à savoir la mouche des mangues Ceratitis cosyra, espèces dominantes dans la région, la mouche du melon, la Bactrocera cucurbitae et la mouche asiatique, Bactrocera invadens. Dix espèces végétales sur 24 étaient identifiés comme hôtes pour les trois espèces mentionnées. L'infestation causée par la mouche des fruits dans la région d'Abugubeiha était beaucoup plus élevée (67 %) dans la goyave la deuxième saison. Alors que dans la première saison, le plus élevé a été enregistré dans la goyave (51%) suivi de la mangue (31%) et le pamplemousse (18%) respectivement. Bactrocera invadens a été détecté une longue rivière Rahad près des frontières soudano-éthiopiennes pour la première fois en utilisant un piège Lynnfield appâté avec un mélange de 4 parties de méthyl-eugénol comme attractif et 1 partie de malathion comme agent tueur.
