The responsibility of developing Dalit and Tribal women towards a sustainable life is not only the responsibility of the government but also the responsibility of every fellow human being. In such a search, the concept of Self Help Group (SHG) is praiseworthy and it is a new window for the development of the Dalit and Tribal women. A doctoral research study has been carried out in Salem district of Tamilnadu in India to assess the socio-economic impact of Self Help Groups on Dalit and Tribal women. The study is likely to provide valuable information on the socio-economic status of SHG members, economic activities undertaken by them, socio-economic impact and empowerment created by the SHGs and the problems faced by the SHG members. This study will be highly useful in overcoming the problems of Dalit and Tribal women and in formulating strategies for the development of Dalit and Tribal women SHGs. This book will be highly useful to Administrators, Planners, Policy-makers, Students and Research Scholars of Commerce, Economics, Women Studies, Sociology, Human Development, NGOs and also other functionaries dealing with women.
