Avec la croissance rapide du nombre d'abonnés mobiles et d'appareils mobiles haut de gamme basés sur des applications sous plusieurs plateformes, le besoin d'une mobilité transparente avec un accès Internet haut débit est devenu une préoccupation principale parmi les chercheurs. L'IP mobile joue un rôle important pour résoudre de nombreux problèmes liés à la gestion transparente de la mobilité. L'un des principaux problèmes de Mobile IP est le problème de routage triangulaire qui peut être résolu par une technique d'optimisation d'itinéraire courante. Ce livre évalue divers schémas novateurs sur l'optimisation d'itinéraire et prépare une analyse comparative de ces schémas. L'un de ces schémas proposés est une technique d'optimisation d'itinéraire basée sur un agent pilote qui réduit efficacement le délai de transfert. Ce livre éclaire également plusieurs schémas de gestion de la mobilité basés sur la micro-mobilité et hiérarchiques IP mobiles (HMIP) et présente une analyse comparative de ces protocoles. Une nouvelle technique THMIP (Three Level Hierarchical Mobile IP) a été présentée comme un schéma de gestion de la mobilité efficace.
