Synopsis

Nutrient Management plays a vital role in increasing crop production and sustaining soil health. The present work is an attempt to provide support to the farmers of selected zones of Karnataka, India in taking decision for the application of fertilizers. In this work a Decision Support System on fertilizer recommendation in Crops (DSS) has been designed and developed using Visual Basic 06 as a plat-form with the information from Soil Test and Crop Response (STCR). The developed DSS is a console application and provides decision to farmers on amount of fertilizer application in different crops. The developed DSS is useful in augmenting economic agricultural production through application of only required amount of fertilizer, maintaining soil and environmental health, avoiding unnecessary wastage of resources, even in absence of experts by the farmers themselves.
