Les changements pathologiques dans la pulpe et les tissus périadiculaires sont dus aux micro-organismes et à leurs sous-produits. Pour obtenir une guérison optimale des tissus périradiculaires et un meilleur pronostic du traitement endodontique, l'élimination complète des micro-organismes, de leurs sous-produits et des tissus infectés est l'objectif principal de la thérapie endodontique. L'instrumentation mécanique, l'irrigation antimicrobienne et les médicaments intracanaux sont les méthodes couramment utilisées pour éliminer la charge microbienne intracanale. Cependant, l'instrumentation mécanique reste le pilier de la désinfection du canal radiculaire, car elle fournit une plate-forme pour les deux autres méthodes d'agir. Les développements continus ont été réalisés dans les instruments rotatifs en nickel titane depuis leur introduction en endodontie il y a près de deux décennies. ProTaper Next, K3XF et Hyflex CM sont des instruments rotatifs récemment introduits fabriqués par traitement thermomécanique des alliages NiTi. Le but de la présente étude était d'évaluer l'efficacité de ces systèmes rotatifs NiTi et instruments manuels, Hero Shaper et Nitiflex, dans la réduction de la population Enterococcus faecalis dans les canaux radiculaires.
