Synopsis
Il y a plus de 500 000 sociétés de développement communautaire (CDC) aux États-Unis et à l'international. Les CDC jouent un rôle très important et influent. Les CDC aident à résoudre des problèmes tels que le manque d'alphabétisation, l'itinérance, le manque d'infrastructure adéquate. Les CDC sont des atouts car ces sociétés contribuent à apporter des changements durables aux communautés du monde entier. Cette thèse développe une approche et un modèle pour évaluer l'efficacité des sociétés de développement communautaire confessionnelles et laïques (CDC) dans la fourniture de services de développement économique et d'autres services. Cette thèse soutient que les CDC confessionnels et laïques sont essentiellement des entités comparables dont les caractéristiques et les fonctions sont pratiquement indiscernables, donc parler de l'efficacité organisationnelle des CDC est suffisant pour englober à la fois les CDC confessionnels et laïques. L'étude utilise une approche empirique, dirigée par la littérature, pour découvrir les caractéristiques et les fonctions des CDC religieux et laïques, la mesure dans laquelle ils sont impliqués dans les activités de développement économique, et pour déterminer les facteurs clés qui influencent l'efficacité organisationnelle de ces entreprises.
