Synopsis
Dans la chaîne de montagnes Al Jabal al Akhdar dans le nord d'Oman, l'élevage de chèvres reste la principale activité d'élevage, l'élevage de chèvres dans les systèmes d'élevage traditionnels de la région semble être limité. Malgré les conditions naturelles, le Sultanat d'Oman a subi d'importants changements économiques, politiques et sociaux au cours des quatre dernières décennies, qui ont également affecté les systèmes agricoles dans les oasis de montagne (Dickhoefer, 2006). Néanmoins, la recherche agricole s'est jusqu'ici largement concentrée sur la culture des cultures, le rôle du bétail au sein de ces systèmes agricoles ne recevant que peu d'attention. Cette étude cherche donc à combler cette lacune en analysant d'importants déterminants de la productivité des troupeaux de chèvres dans le système d'oasis traditionnel d'Al Jabal al Akhdar.
