Synopsis
Le domaine de l'orthodontie s'est rapidement développé dans l'ère Post Angle. Les contributions fondamentales d'Edward Angle dans le domaine de l'orthodontie, en particulier dans l'introduction et la propogation de divers systèmes d'appareils seront à jamais mémorisées. Son développement du support Edgewise a été indirectement responsable de la popularisation de la spécialité de l'orthodontie et de la mettre à l'avant-garde de la dentisterie. Ce livre est une petite tentative de décrire systématiquement l'évolution des systèmes de supports orthodontiques de l'ère pré-angle jusqu'au développement des supports linguaux, des supports d'auto-ligature et des systèmes de supports personnalisés. Il est difficile d'imaginer qu'il existait une période avant l'invention des supports orthodontiques. Il est nécessaire pour les cliniciens et les étudiants en orthodontie de connaître la base historique du développement des systèmes de supports orthodontiques afin de devenir de meilleurs praticiens de cette merveilleuse spécialité de la dentisterie. Les développements des supports ont parcouru un long chemin depuis l'utilisation du cordon catgut pour aligner les dents. Après 3000 ans de progrès, on pourrait penser qu'il n'y aurait pas de place pour d'autres développements. L'histoire, cependant, a prouvé le contraire.
