This book involves the utilization of carbon dioxide as a feedstock to form methanol. In contemporary society, present continuous population growth requires more energy. Accordingly, atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases have increased. Thus, changes in climate have caused impacts on natural and human systems globally. Recycling of the carbon dioxide to produce methanol offers a viable new way. In this regard, by the reduction of carbon dioxide with hydrosilanes over N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) organocatalysts, methanol can be synthesized from carbon dioxide at room temperature, and the reaction mechanism was also investigated with GC-MS and NMR analyses.
