Synopsis

Pigeonpea economically and nutritionally an important legume and is a major source of protein for the poor communities of many tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Seed infecting fungi (i.e., Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium udum, Drechslera sp., Curvularia lunata, Rhizoctonia sp., Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus) are important constraints for the pigeonpea seed. Recently, seed storagers faced main problems of fungal infection and their causes heavy losses in seed quality & quantity. Seed treatment with biological as well as chemical given good result in seedling growth and prevent seedling damage and also maintain seed protein, lipid, sugar and nutrients & vitamins. So, seed treatment is very useful for long duration of seed storage.
