Synopsis

Intensive uses of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles in many consumer products, e.g., toothpaste, cosmetics, paints food colorants, and in cancer therapy as a result of their high optical performance, high redox activity, and large surface area increase their human exposure and their risk. Indeed, nano-TiO2 was reported to kill viruses, e.g., Poliovirus 1, hepatitis B virus, Herpes simplex virus, and MS2 bacteriophage. That forced us to evaluate the possible reduction of nano-titanium induced genotoxicity by natural antioxidant chlorophyllin.
