Synopsis

Introduction of Ni-Ti into dentistry saw the end of stainless steel era. Today with the growing of use of Ni-Ti instruments the mechanical objectives of root canal preparation are virtually attainable. Ni-Ti alloy's super elasticity allows more centered canal preparation with less transportation and a decreased incidence of canal aberrations. The choice of Ni-Ti rotary instruments depends upon working condition like position of tooth in the arch, number of roots and root canals, size of pulp space, degree and level of curvatures of root canal and thorough knowledge of its design characteristics. Excellence and consistent endodontic outcomes are still very difficult to obtain. However with knowledge of design of new generation instruments and using combination of conventional hand instruments with Ni-Ti rotary, far better and faster results can be obtained than in the past. By training practice and patience, clinician can expand their capabilities alongside of these technological advancements to perform endodontic treatment with increased success.
