This book is based on study of delay present in any industrial process and its approximation techniques. First-order-plus-dead-time model approximates many processes in the chemical and petroleum industries. Many such processes also exist either in SISO or MIMO systems. consistency is a very important parameter in paper mills in its various stages of operations. Without the knowledge of consistency it is not possible to optimize productivity with optimal quality. Consistency of thick stock varying between in the wet end machine has been chosen for its operation and control. Normally, it gives a first order with dead time response and therefore it is an important candidate for performing the modeling of dead time for further analysis.
