Synopsis

This work is concern with to compare and analysis of liquefaction potential in Balrampur district using SPT data collected from the various sites along the stretch of Rapti main Canal, India. To evaluate the liquefaction potential along the stretch of Rapti Main Canal, it is important to study the geotechnical characteristics like grain size distribution, size of silt, depth of water table and SPT N-value. Here liquefaction potential analysis is done to determine the factor of safety at different depth. Liquefaction potential at this site is evaluated and compared by calculating factor of safety against liquefaction along different depths of soil profile using Standard Penetration Test SPT) based different approaches. Seeing the hazardous effects of recently occurred Nepal earthquake (Mw=7.9) in April, 2015. This study is taken out by considering a moment magnitude of Mw=8.0.
