Tertiary educational institutions have the responsibility of assuring the public that they are ‘doing the right things the right way’ through teaching and learning to produce quality graduates equipped with relevant communicative skills for national development. This work contributes to the quality discourse by providing specific insights into the QA situation in the Ghanaian higher education landscape. English for Academic Purposes (EAP), the unit of analysis in this study, is pervasive in tertiary educational circles globally. Assuring quality in its teaching is thus very crucial for enhanced quality learning outcomes, especially in a multi-lingual context like Ghana's where English is the only official language and the main medium of instruction in schools. The study also highlights an indispensable, yet little-heard-of language teaching and learning resource - the CEFR - for EAP curriculum design and assessment in Ghanaian HE circles. The book re-echoes the importance of the “student voice” in QA strategies in improving the quality of EAP teaching and learning. Language teachers, quality assurance professionals and policy makers should find it a useful resource.
