Synopsis

The United Nations(UN) and Human Rights is an in depth examination of the main contributions of the UN to establish peace and unity in the world through Human Rights. The book critically examined the philosophical foundation of the concept and how it became globalised after the two world wars. An interesting part of the book is the exposure of the wickedness, callousness, and brigandage that were perpetrated by political leaders hiding under State Sovereignty. The founding fathers of the UN were greatly alarmed that should such wastage of human capital be allowed to continue just to satisfy political expediency, the world would not be a safe place for humanity. The book is thought provoking and insightful because of its unstinting exposure of the intrigues, diplomacy and the pursuit of national interest Today, the UN has become a beacon of hope and a rallying point for the human family. This book is a must read for Human rights activists, students of Politics, History, Researchers and the general public.
