The fragile ecosystem of the Himalayan river basins has been an increasing cause of concern to environmentalists and water resources planners in the South Asian region. Keeping in view the already precarious water situation at river basin level, the demand-driven approach in the Himalayan region needs to be shifted to integrated water resources management in this region. An integrated hydrological and geospatial modeling techniques was adopted to investigate potential land and water resources and management options for sustainable development of the Soan river basin lying in the sub-Himalayan region of Pakistan.
