Drug abuse is common problem facing every society worldwide. The most widely used drug is alcohol and it has become abused by persons of all ages. The school age youth are not immune from the effects of alcohol abuse with the youth in a specific community claiming to consume on average 3-4 alcoholic drinks at a time per day. The school age youth are critical to the development of any country since they, in the future will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, programs in all aspects of the society including education, health and even judiciary systems. Alcohol abuse tends to lead and serve as a gateway drug to other "harder"such as Marijuana and Cocaine. The main reasons why school age youth engage in drinking was found to be "to feel good about themselves" and to "Please their friends" with them having strong feelings of "stress free" and "love" after consumption has occurred. Many recommendations are presented in the hope of making the Community a better place and by extension the country St Lucia and the World.
