Entitled SEHNSUCHT the exhibition in the German Pavilion at the Biennale 2010 in Venice seeks to uncover the emotional heart of architecture. This is done not in the conventional way of representing architecture through models, plans and photography, but by creating atmospheric spaces. Exhibited in the main space of the pavilion are interpretations of the theme of longing by a selection of German architects and creative minds from the arts world. Like a modern interpretation of the salon, the pavilion evolves into a space for interdisciplinary reflection in the field of contemporary architecture. Sehnsucht The Book of Architectural Longings constitutes an autonomous contribution, designed as an element complementing the exhibition. Pictures and texts approach the theme on different levels such as arts, literature, architecture, and music.
