In presenting these pages to the consideration of the public, I do so at the earnest solicitation of many of my lady patrons who have attended my lectures, but have not always been successful in taking correct notes. I therefore put into print this pamphlet of recipes where the formula is given, followed by the explicit directions of how to put together the ingredients ;with such notes and hints as may be of value to the experimenter. I sincerely hope the reader, especially the young housewife, may find the following pages of assistance in her household duties. The directions are not theories but are the fruits of practical experience. They are as free from technicalities as the nature of the subject seems to permit, and the author sincerely hopes that they will prove profitable to the reader.
