Josef Albers taught preliminary design courses (»Grundlehre«) at the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Ulm twice between 1953 and 1955. The Swiss Hans G. Conrad photographed his teaching in extensi- ve series. For the first time, these images are now being published in their entirety. Together with works by the student, they create a multifaceted and lively impression of Albers' interaction to teach the fundamentals of art and design.
