Relatively few French architects have successfully secured a position for themselves in international architecture, yet Bernard Reichen and Philippe Robert have realised projects in Greece, in Australia, in the USA, in Qatar since they founded their office in 1973. They have made a name for themselves with their conversions of 19th century buildings such as the Grande Halle de la Villette, and the Pavillon de l´Arsenal in Paris, and increasingly issues deriving from urban development and landscape planning are featuring in their work. This book opens with an interview of Bernard Reichen and Philippe Robert which reveals their approach to architecture and urban design. In the main part of the book some 80 buildings and projects are presented and documented, including the development of the plans of one of the sites of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the headquaters of Nestle France in a former chocolate factory.

Etat : Sehr gut. In englischer Sprache. - Frisches Exemplar. - "The French architects Bernard Reichen and Philippe Robert teamed up in 1973 and first won acclaim for their conversion of weaving mills in the north of France, followed by refits of monumental 19th Century iron/glass sheds: the Grande Halle de La Viltette, the Pavillon de l'Arsenal in Paris, and the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyons. Their contextual approach to design also translates into respect for the environment: rather than impose a building on a site, they prefer to integrate it and to establish a dialogue between nature and architecture. Recurrent themes in the work of Reichen & Robert include the coexistence of several functions in the same space, the quest for spatial fluidity, relationship with context, construction logic and architectural ethics. Reichen & Robert have realised projects in Greece, in the USA, in Qatar, and in Australia where they have completed numerous projects. Recent examples, presented in this book, include the development of the plans of one of the sites of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the headquaters of Nestle France in a former chocolate factory."
