Jahrhunderts oder die alternativen Konzepte von Dauer und Zeit der Surrealisten und Experimentalfilmer zu Beginn und Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Zentral für das Buch ist die Zeitspanne zwischen der Entstehung des Expanded Cinema in den 1970er-Jahren und der Wiederentdeckung vieler seiner Techniken in den Videoinstallationen der 1990er-Jahre: Zwei Generationen von Künstlern verbindet der Wunsch, Raum- und Zeiterfahrungen zu schaffen, die eine Alternative zu den Konventionen der Kulturindustrie darstellen.
Heute ist die Projektion bewegter Bilder im Ausstellungskontext zur Konvention erstarrt und analoge Medien werden in digitale Verfahren überführt. Art of Projection unternimmt zum richtigen Zeitpunkt eine Neubewertung der Geschichte der Medienkunst.
