J?n Mancuska (*1972 in Bratislava) employs text and film in his three-dimensional works. He generally includes the venue architecture in his installations and arranges the linguistic or visual fragments in such a way that he creates a very specific mode of observation for each of his works. Their reception depends on the way the observer moves through the space or in relation to the works of art. Mancuska's objects, interiors, and visual sentences create a dramatic narrative, which the viewer mentally condenses into fictitious, cinematic sequences. In 2005 the artist represented the Czech Republic at the Venice Biennale, and he also exhibited at the 4th Berlin Biennale, among other places. This publication is the first survey of his work up until now.

Etat : Wie Neu. Zustandsbeschreibung: leichte Lagerspuren. Deutsch/englisch. Anlässlich der Ausstellung im Kunstverein Braunschweig, Haus Salve Hospes, 04.12.2010 - 20.02.2011. Hrsg. von Hilke Wagner für den Kunstverein Braunschweig. Redaktion Katrin Meder.
