Julius Wiedemann est né et a grandi au Brésil. Après des études de graphisme et de marketing, il s'est installé à Tokyo, où il a travaillé comme directeur artistique pour des magazines numériques et de design. Depuis qu'il a rejoint TASCHEN à Cologne, il a créé la collection numérique et média TASCHEN qui compte aujourd'hui notamment les titres suivants Digital Beauties, 1000 Game Heroes, Animation Now! et TASCHEN's 1000 Favorite Websites.
