English summary: The early phase of Hittite tradition in Hattusa is especially rich in historical narratives and in texts that record historical events or contain longer passages that refer to the past. This collection of historical narratives containing a wide variety of literary topics and figures is unique not only in the context of Hittite literature, but also throughout the entire ancient Middle East. This volume presents the first comprehensive study of this group of texts. The analysis, which is based on philological approaches as well as on perspectives of literary and historical theory, aims to illustrate the diversity of ancient Hittite historical literature and its forms, content and intentions. It is meant to encourage new perspectives in research and attempts to contextualize the literary communication of the ancient Hittite period in terms of its historical, cultural and political background.
