Synopsis

The main goal of the IPN Video Study is to systematically describe and analyse physics instruction and to investigate its relevance for understanding-oriented learning in the classroom. In the first phase of the IPN Video Study, various guidelines and instruments for data collection were developed and published. In the second phase of the project, a more elaborated approach was realised.

This technical report provides an overview of all the tools and methods used in this study. It shows how to run a video study that analyses patterns of instruction and their impact on cognitive as well as motivational-affective learning outcomes. The report includes the documentation of the organisation and realisation of the IPN Video Study. In addition, it provides standardised guidelines for collecting video tapes. Moreover, the technical report presents standardised guidelines for the transcription of video tapes and describes the observation and coding procedures in detail. Finally, this volume reports scale documentations of all tests and questionnaires.

À propos des auteurs

Prof. Dr. Tina Seidel, Jahrgang 1974, studierte Psychologie an der Universität Regensburg. Ab 1998 arbeitete sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Juniorprofessorin am Leibniz-Institut für die Pädagogik der Naturwissenschaften (IPN) an der Universität Kiel. Nach der Promotion 2002 vertiefte sie ihre Studien im Bereich der Unterrichtsforschung mit Schwerpunkt Videoanalysen. Tina Seidel ist Inhaberin des Friedl Schöller-Stiftungslehrstuhls für Unterrichts- und Hochschulforschung an der Technischen Universität München.

Prof. Dr. Manfred Prenzel ist Leiter des Zentrums für Lehrer*innenbildung an der Universität Wien und hat dort den Lehrstuhl für Empirische Bildungsforschung mit Bezug zur LehrerInnenbildung inne. Zu seinen Forschungsschwerpunkten zählen Bildungsmonitoring, internationale Schulleistungsvergleiche, Unterrichtsforschung, Professionalisierung und Qualitätsentwicklung im Bildungssystem und das Lernen in außerschulischen Lernorten.

Mareike Kobarg studierte Psychologie an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. Von 2004–2007 promovierte sie am Leibniz-Institut für die Pädagogik der Naturwissenschaften (IPN) in Kiel. Seit Mai 2008 ist sie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am IPN. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte sind der naturwissenschaftliche Unterricht, die videobasierte Unterrichtsforschung und die videobasierte Lehrerprofessionalisierung.
