Synopsis
Depuis que TASCHEN a publié The Great American Pin-up il y a quinze ans, l’intérêt que suscite cette forme d’art typiquement américaine dans le monde a augmenté de manière exponentielle. Des peintures de grands artistes du genre comme Alberto Vargas, George Petty et Gil Elvgren qui se vendaient 2000$ en 1996 atteignent aujourd’hui 200.000$ et plus. L’art du pin-up, dessins ou peintures de jolies filles presque nues, a été produit entre 1920 et 1970, mais beaucoup d’œuvres ont été jetées par les éditeurs et les imprimeurs de calendriers après impression. Aujourd’hui, on se les arrache: il était temps de proposer une édition collector conséquente. Avec son format imposant, The Art of Pin-up est un livre impressionnant qui sera convoité par les amateurs de pin-up aussi bien que les collectionneurs chevronnés. Les dix artistes majeurs du genre sont présentés en détail. À propos des auteurs
Louis Meisel es propietario de una de las galerías especializadas en arte pin-up e ilustración más antiguas de Nueva York. Es coautor de The Great American Pin-up y Gil Elvgren: All his Glamorous American Pin-ups, publicados por TASCHEN.
Sabine Arqué es documentalista, iconógrafa y escritora. Ha colaborado en numerosos libros sobre viajes, historia del turismo y fotografía.
Dian Hanson produjo diversas revistas para hombres entre 1976 y 2001, como Juggs, Outlaw Biker y Leg Show, antes de convertirse en editora de la colección Sexy Books de TASCHEN.
