L’architecture contemporaine japonaise est depuis longtemps parmi les plus inventives au monde. Huit architectes japonais ont ainsi remporté le Pritzker Prize.
Depuis l’Exposition universelle d’Osaka (1970), le Japon est un acteur clé de l’architecture mondiale. Tadao Ando a inscrit la construction japonaise sur le planisphère culturel, établissant un pont entre Orient et Occident. Dans son sillon, des personnalités comme Kengo Kuma ou Shigeru Ban ont développé des approches plus écoresponsables. À propos de l?auteur
Philip Jodidio estudió Historia del Arte y Economía en la Universidad de Harvard y fue editor jefe de la revista Connaissance des Arts durante más de 20 años. Entre sus publicaciones con TASCHEN se encuentran la serie Homes for Our Time y monografías sobre numerosos arquitectos destacados, como Norman Foster, Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel y Zaha Hadid.
