Synopsis

This book introduces the concept of information components as a general mechanism that supports the creation and composition of an information system in a modular and incremental manner based on the model of crowdsourcing. The unit of reuse is an information component that comprises metadata and data. The concept of information components is specified through a well-defined metamodel and has been implemented as a metamodel extension module of an object database that integrates business logic.

Stefania Leone received a Master in Computer Science from the University of Zurich in 2005. After graduating, she worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Institute for Information Systems at ETH Zurich, where she completed her PhD in 2011.
