Synopsis

Information technology infrastructure (or IT infrastructure) therefore plays a critical role because all other systems depend on it. The local area network - which is the focus of this research - is part of the basic IT infrastructure. The local area network, or LAN, is defined as the organization’s own infrastructure, which connects workstations, servers, and other devices. We identify four local area network management tasks that are common to all organizations - security and backup management, technical network management and maintenance, user support arrangements and communication network development. In addition, there are a number of background factors that influence local area network management and development - information intensity, strategic importance, financial resources and human IT resources. In addition, we emphasize the idea of both technical and human components in local area network management.
