Today, the urban conglomerate of Polish Silesia finds itself experimenting a worldwide phenomenon: the continuous blurring of the spatial and conceptual borders between town, city, metropolis and megalopolis; a growing mixture of spaces, activities, interrelations and connectivities that challenge the traditional -and more assessable- image of human settlement. In a crossroads of ages and geographies, Silesia becomes a political and socio-economical experiment on-the-go, a perfect laboratory in which we can study the ups and downs of the current urban trends, the attempts to understand and control them, and the impact they make on our daily quality of life.
