Synopsis

The success of endodontic therapy depends on the eradication of microbes from the root canal system and prevention of reinfection. For complete sterilization of the root canal, chemical debridement in the form of irrigation is a must in combination with mechanical instrumentation. Sodium hypochlorite is still the most widely used irrigating solution in endodontics.
