Synopsis

Pakistan's commercially exploitable energy resources consist of natural gas, oil, coal and hydropower. The Government realizing fully well that while a fiscal package with competitive incentives plays a vital role in attracting fresh investment, an adequate protection of the companies' investment is an essential prerequisite for promotion of petroleum exploration in the country. This led to enactment of foreign investment protection of 1976 by the Parliament, under which the Government guaranteed full safeguard for foreign investment in Pakistan. The Governments have provided policy package of liberal incentives to enhance exploration activities in the country, the latest of which was introduced in 2009. In this book, the Author has provided complete set of Act, Policies and Rules applicable to the Exploration and Production business in Pakistan since 1947 todate including comparison of different Policies/Rules alongwith Model Petroleum Exploration Licence and Model Petroleum Concession Agreement. In addition Readers can also take benefit of Author's another book named "UPSTREAM PETROLEUM LAWS & REGULATORY FRAMEWORK IN PAKISTAN".

Mr. Muhammad Shahid Malik is a Senior Petroleum Sector Lawyer in Pakistan working as Senior Legal Counsel in a foreign Exploration and Production Company. He holds LL.B., LL.M. and M.A Political Science Degrees. He provides legal advice on whole range of commercial and governance issues with sensitivity to regulatory compliance.
